Hosted by ING’s Tom Hawkins, balls will be picked out of a special tombola by The Developer’s Kimberly France and The Crowd’s Louise Constantine – the Built World Cup’s sponsor.

The 20 teams will be drawn into four groups of five teams. As tournament “host”, ING has been given ball #1 with the other teams following in alphabetical order.

The top two teams from each group will compete to become for the title of first Built World Cup champions, receiving the coveted Golden Pineapple trophy. All teams will qualify for a knockout phase with minor awards up for grabs.

All ties will then take place on Friday 25th April from 1pm at Shoreditch Powerleague in London. Any spectators wishing to attend on the day are welcome to pay a £5 donation on the door.

The tournament will raise vital funds for the construction of a Community Hub in Vorzel, Ukraine, as part of the Balbek Bureau’s RE:Ukraine system’s charitable initiative to support communities devastated by the war in Ukraine.

Thanks to the kind sponsorship of The Crowd, the tournament will cap off with drinks and networking and a chance to reflect on the efforts made to raise crucial funds.

Tom Hawkins, associate director at ING Media:

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the industry’s interest and support for a fantastic cause in its inaugural year. We had no choice but to quickly make the decision to expand the tournament to 20 teams.

“Everyone is invited to the Group Stage Draw. Think tombola, balls, beers! It will be a great opportunity for teams to come together for the first time and celebrate what we are collectively hoping to achieve as footballers and fundraisers.”

Louise Constantine, Co-Founder and Director of The Crowd:

“The excitement is really starting to build as we get closer to the big day. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone involved and pulling the teams out of the hat. I’m sure we will have some spicy fixtures among the great and the good of the built world. Bring on the 25th April!”

About RE:Ukraine Community Hub

The story of the RE:Ukraine Community Hub project began with the (balbek bureau) initial concept, RE:Ukraine Housing, which aimed at providing dignified temporary housing for internally displaced persons. In May 2023, we started work on the site in Vorzel and laid the foundation for both sections. However, as the project progressed, it became clear that the community's needs were evolving, and the space needed to address long-term challenges.

Following discussions with Vorzel residents, local authorities, and experts, bb decided to adjust the concept to create a center that would cater to a broader audience and ensure a holistic approach to the community's recovery.

The next step is developing project documentation. This includes detailed drawings, technical documentation, and budget planning to ensure the construction meets all standards and addresses the community's needs. This work is handled by bb’s long-time partners, one of Ukraine's leading construction engineering firms.

What will the funds be used for? All donations will be allocated to completing construction and engineering documentation, laying the groundwork for the project's implementation. This crucial stage will allow for an efficient transition to the construction phase.

Balbek bureau is committed to transparency and will gladly provide detailed reports on the use of the collected funds.
