Lendlease is working in partnership with Southwark Council to deliver a £2billion regeneration programme in the centre of London’s Elephant & Castle. The 28 acre scheme is regeneration on a scale rarely seen in Zone One.
The development includes Elephant Park, a residential neighbourhood of around 2,500 energy efficient homes, 50 new shops, restaurants and cafés and a brand new park right in the heart of the scheme. Elephant Park is one of only 18 projects worldwide to be part of the C40 Cities Climate Positive Development Programme, a select group of regeneration projects worldwide that aim to be ‘Climate Positive’ (or net-carbon neutral) by the time they are complete.
The first residents on the regeneration moved in during summer 2015 at Trafalgar Place, which was awarded ‘Best New Place to Live’ and the ‘Mayor’s Planning Excellence Award’ at the prestigious 2016 London Planning Awards. The latest phase, the landmark 37-storey One The Elephant, completes in Summer 2016. Lendlease, which is both developer and contractor on the project, envisages the transformation of the Elephant into ‘central London’s new green heart’.
